RACE-CURIOUS CLINIC
Curious about cross-country ski racing, but not sure where to start? The Race-Curious Clinic with Martin Benes is designed for skiers who want to explore racing in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
The clinic includes a skills-focused training component (on snow if conditions allow, or dryland if not), plus a discussion on physical and mental preparation, pacing, training strategies, and what to expect on race day.
You’ll also learn about off-season training and discover local and international race opportunities, including how racing can connect you to travel, culture, and a vibrant ski community.
Open to athletes with a wide range of goals, from trying a first local race to dreaming bigger. Racing isn’t just about speed—it’s about experience, connection, and personal growth.
This clinic is included with the in-person ticket, space allowing. Want to reserve your spot? Send us a message via our contact form.
XC MEETS BACKCOUNTRY CLINIC
Want to take your cross-country skiing beyond groomed trails? This clinic explores the crossover between XC technique and backcountry adventure, helping skiers adapt their skills for off-piste terrain.
Led by Jared Manninen—PSIA Level 3 XC instructor, creator of Tahoe Trail Guide, and local naturalist—participants will learn how to move efficiently through variable terrain, think about route selection, and choose appropriate gear for backcountry Nordic outings.
If conditions allow, the session will include on-snow technique practice focused on climbing, descending and transitioning. If there’s no snow, the clinic will shift to a guided hike exploring terrain selection for future backcountry ski tours, along with opportunities to appreciate wild spaces and wildlife.
The clinic also includes a gear discussion and show-and-tell, covering equipment setups and practical tips for getting started with backcountry cross-country skiing.
